Cycle route of the month

Plan your next cycling holiday in Velotel and explore the wonderful Brugse Ommeland! Our cycling tip of the month is 'After summer on the beach of De Haan and Ostend'

Despite the wet summer, we are not giving up and we are looking forward to a beautiful sunny late summer! That is why our cycling route tip for this month is: 'After summer on the beach of De Haan and Ostend'.
First you are taken from one charming polder village to another even more beautiful polder village until you reach the dunes, beach and sea. The first stop is De Haan: enjoy a lovely walk through the Duinbossen (walking route with signposts 10 km), discover the sculpture park Sculptures@Sea in various places in De Haan and climb the Watchtower on Vosseslag beach for a unique view over the sea, forests and polders. Then you cycle via Bredene to majestic Ostend.
Those who first want to immerse themselves in history can visit Fort Napoleon where the walls have stood as silent witnesses for many hundreds of years and now 'whisper' their numerous stories in a brand new exhibition.
As a highlight you reach Ostend, the regal splendor of our Belgian coast! Stretch out on the vast beach, feel the sea breeze on the dyke, taste the sea in the numerous fish restaurants, walk liberally through the Royal Venetian Galleries, increase your maritime knowledge on board the Mercator and admire the paintings by Ensor and Permeke in Mu .Sea. And so much more!
You return to Bruges on the canal dyke of the Ghent-Bruges-Oostende canal. For a refreshing afterglow you can visit Ter Spinde (at the Stalhillebrug), Bistro Nieuwege or the cozy bar of riding school The Golden Quarter (at the Nieuwegebrug).
